Bennetts work great and Trackers aren't bad, and both are as cheap as chips, but each comes with compromises. All the faffing around with risers leaves your board much higher off the ground and puts a whole lot of stress on the Bennett kingpin - kingpin snapping becomes a niggling worry.

The Virage's are, as far as I'm aware, the first LDP specific trucks produced. No fiddly angled riser hassle - in fact you can get away with just a sliver of a shock pad and still ride big wheels (75-77mm) on a board with wheelwells such as the mighty Subsonic Pulse.

Aside from the just-right height and angles, clever design details are everywhere...easy change long grade 8 kingpin and pivot cup, the screw-in axles (threaded so they won't undo just from riding), big old bushing seats... probably much more I've missed. And for the aesthetes amongst us, these trucks are objects of functional beauty.

The front truck turns in a manner not dissimilar to a Bennett minus the dive, which is a Good Good Thing. But unlike the Bennett, there's plenty of kingpin clearance, so much less chance of an asphalt dinner.

The rear just tracks and sticks. Wheel lift used to be a wee bit of problem. Not with these. It's a whole other level of performance over a Tracker and paired with a Subsonic Pulse, you can really step on the rear 'gas peddles' and power forward from the back foot.

The only downside is the cost. But a five star hotel costs five star money doesn't it? All I know is, I want another set.

Again, I don't work for Subsonic or Octane, and have only seen Mr Stride on Blue Peter via YouTube, and he was quite posh, like these trucks.
